The commercial I chose was trying to market a product called 'Rivella.' Rivella is a soft drink created in Switzerland around 1952 which has a milk whey base. The video consists of many different images all corresponding that depic actions. Many actions are addressed; they are also all that the commercial consists of. An example of a few are 'seek me,' 'comfort me,' 'kiss me,' understand me,'; there are many more. Also one line addresses a few less appealing thiigs such as 'burn me,' 'destroy me.' Finally the commercial closes with an attractive woman giving the camera a provocative face with the words 'drink me' below.
The cultural aspect of this commercial is very hard to pin down. many images are shown; a woman holding her baby, a girl kissing a boy, two men embracing, a man curling up on his bed, a woman crying, a farris wheel, etc.. Whoever made this commercial is very skilled at reaching an audience because when looking at these images what comes to my mind is human nature itself. Everyone loves, everyone feels sad, and apparently, as the last staement says, we all therefore need to drink Rivella. Fortunatley for the company who makes the drink most people do not analyze commercials in this way. I think that most would agree that a soda, especially one made from milk whey, does not have any true application to actual life. People that love us won't stop because we choose not to drink a certain kind of soft drink. The images are very compelling but as far as what need we have as humans to drink Rivella really has no standpoint whatsoever. I have to say though its such a good commercial it makes me want to try it, so i guess they did their job.
